β Hello Reader! With the start of November, I'm sure that you are well into this year's journey of teaching literacy--biliteracy, really. Embedded in biliteracy is translanguaging, my favorite time! Some people call it 'Bridging' and even 'The Bridge', and as people who speak, read and write in 2 or more languages we are translanguaging all the time! I know that it can get exciting to teach translanguaging explicitly in K-1, and I want to send your way a resource that can help. βThis resource focuses on the Spanish syllables ge & gi plus ja, je, ji, jo, ju AND 'La h muda' ha, he, hi, ho, hu and then bridges into the English sounds using the letters h, j and g. Included are letters and image cards that you can print up for an anchor chart or a Dual Language word wall. If you are interested in reading more about the 'Dos and Don'ts' of translanguaging in the K-1 classroom, then check out the blog post for some tips. If you are looking for the perfect pair of centers and literacy for Spanish syllables ge/gi, ja/je/ji/jo/ju, ha/he/hi/ho/hu, then check out these centers with this dictado. If you have gotten this far, THANKS for reading! Please hit reply and let me know if you are interested in seeing more translaguaging printables to become available in my store, Your Dual Classroom. Thanks so much!! Have a great week, Judy β |
